Students will learn the essential skills needed to transition from the gym to real rock with confidence. We’ll cover key differences between indoor and outdoor climbing, including risk awareness, environmental factors, and gear considerations. Participants will get hands-on experience with fundamental systems like building and cleaning top-rope anchors, basic knot work, and proper use of outdoor-specific equipment.
We’ll also introduce core safety principles—like anchor evaluation, redundancy, and communication so you can make informed decisions outside. Beyond the technical skills, the clinic will touch on outdoor ethics, including Leave No Trace practices and how to respect climbing areas and other users.
By the end, you’ll have a solid foundation to start climbing outdoors safely and responsibly, whether you’re heading to a local crag or planning bigger adventures.
